Birth

At 8 am, my doctor came in to tell me he was going to send me home that day. I looked at him and laughed. He said "what's so funny?" I said, "I'm in labor and have been having contractions all night!" He told me they weren't real contractions just some braxton hicks and walked out of the room. I was so shocked that he would even say this that I didn't know what to do!!! He finally came back in at 9 am and said he would go ahead and check me before I left. At that point the contractions were becoming pretty painful! He pushed on my stomach so hard I cried from the pain! He looked at me and said well your about a 3 to a 4 and your in full labor. And I just thought no duh!!! Anyways, they shipped me off to the labor room by 10am. They hooked me up to the monitors and got my fluids going to my IV. Then I had to wait for the fluids to get the epi. Which sucked because it was not fun feeling those contractions with the pitocin they went ahead and gave me to get my contractions stronger and longer...

They checked me again at about 11:30 and said I was a 4-5 and that I could go ahead and get the epidural.. I said yayyy!!! I then had to lay through two more contractions before I could get up. I sat on the side and leaned against my mom clutching a pillow. I was so focused on the contractions and breathing through them so I wouldn't move that I never felt the needle from the epi! After they placed the epi I layed back down and within five minutes I could not feel my legs except for a tingling sensation(almost like they went to sleep). I could not feel my contractions except for right under my right breast. It was like a ball of pain. Almost like when you get a stitch in your side after running for a long time! I was so relaxed that I fell asleep by 11:45. My mom left and went to smoke a cigg, call some people to update them, and get something to eat. I woke about 12:55 and looked at my nurse(which was checking my monitors) and said I feel a bunch of pressure down there! She said she was about to check me, and when she did I was at a ten! The nurse was so shocked that I was already at a ten and she didn't have anything ready. She rushed around the room trying to get everything ready(which took about ten minutes.) She looked at me and said let my go out and tell the doctor we are ready to start pushing!
I was not scared at all until this point. This is the point where I just thought I don't wanna do this! It was like I was about to have an anxiety attack in the few seconds the nurse was gone. But then she came back and I knew it would only be a few minutes before my lil one joined me! I then looked at the doctor as he walked in and he said we were going to do some practice pushes. I pushed twice and he scrambled to get into his protective wear as I pushed the third time! The doctor looked at me as I rested till the next contraction and said that this was going to go really quick! On my nest contraction I pushed for a count of ten, took another breath and pushed for another count of ten. By then her head popped out! He told me to hold on so he could suction out her nose and mouth. I pushed once more and her body popped out! He held her up and even though I said I wouldn't cry, I did! I then watched as they took my baby to check her out and clean her up.
I managed to obtain a second degree tear during labor, so the doctor was stitching me up. My mother later told me that I had tore a little bit and then the doctor cut me. As the doctor stitched, I could feel the needle going in and out! He applied more ointment and I could still feel it. So he told the nurse to go get me a happy shot!! YAY! for happy shots!! I didn't feel anything after that! But it did make me very sleepy. I forced my eyes to stay open as I watched my baby take a bath and get dressed.
